There are two completely different types of medical insurance that are required for a surrogacy journey – insurance to cover the GC during pregnancy and delivery, and insurance to cover your newborn baby from the moment of birth. The GC’s policy will not cover your baby. Newborn insurance is typically not an issue for our Domestic US clients, as a Domestic IP’s existing insurance policy will very likely cover their child as a dependent immediately upon delivery. For our International clients, however, establishing newborn insurance to cover the baby while in the US is critical.
