Are You a Good Candidate to be a Surrogate Mother?
If you are considering becoming a Surrogate Mother, you are already in the right mindset to do something truly amazing for another family. Surrogacy is a life-changing experience that can be both emotionally and physically taxing, as well as extremely rewarding. In this way, it is just like any other pregnancy! If you’re considering becoming a Surrogate for an individual or a couple who are seeking to build and grow a family, a quality agency will need to make sure you are the right fit. Unfortunately, not everyone can or should be a part of this type of journey. In order to move forward, you must meet certain health, mental, and financial qualifications.
Will you be accepted as a Surrogate Mother? The process is very long, before you even meet any potential Intended Parents. Here are just a few questions to ask yourself before seeking to qualify to become a Surrogate:
#1 Do I live in a state that is “Surrogacy Friendly?”
#2 Do I have anywhere from a year to 18 months to commit to completing this process?
#3 Am I around the ages of 21-43?
#4 Do I already had a child of my own, but not more than five?
#5 Are I in good health with no chronic illnesses or infectious diseases?
#6 Do I have a BMI of 35 or below?
#7 Am I financially stable?
#8 Do I have an understanding partner, family, or other support system?
#9 Is my mental health strong enough to be a Surrogate?
#10 Will I be happy keeping in touch with the Intended Parents and respect their decisions throughout the process?
#11 Does having a positive impact on a family who really needs my help call to me on a personal level?
If you answered “yes” to all of the above questions, surrogacy might be for you! There are other questions to consider, for sure. We want to hear from you to discuss it further!
